■ The Appeal of Tateyama
Tateyama has long flourished as both a port town and a castle town. While it serves as a tourist destination, it remains a place where the rhythms of everyday life—seen in its fishing ports, local eateries, and temples and shrines—continue to unfold. This seamless blend of tourism and daily life makes it the perfect setting for a stay that allows you to immerse yourself in the local, everyday reality of the region.
Funagata, which serves as an ideal base for your travels, is a fishing town where the harbor is just a short walk away. Perched on a hillside is the vermilion-lacquered Kannon Hall of Daifuku-ji Temple—known as “Gake Kannon” (Cliff Kannon)—which is said to have been founded in 717 and was built to pray for maritime safety and bountiful catches. Here, a way of life deeply rooted in both fishing and prayer still thrives within a quiet residential neighborhood, far removed from the crowds found in the heart of more typical tourist hubs.

■ A Home in Tateyama: Bringing Life Together
This two-story villa is designed not merely as a place for sightseeing, but as a home where you can spend your time exactly as you please. The first floor features two bedrooms, a Japanese-style room, and a playroom; the second floor houses a living-dining area, a kitchen, another Japanese-style room, a bathroom with a view, a sauna, a cold plunge, and a roof balcony.
In the spacious dining area, you might spread out local ingredients discovered that very day. Whether the children are engrossed in a game of table tennis or the adults are relaxing in a warm bath, everyone naturally gravitates toward the kitchen to help with the meal. You can enjoy your food—or perhaps a barbecue—out on the roof balcony, where a breeze carrying the scent of the sea drifts through.
After the meal, you might lower the screen in the playroom for a movie, or gather around the *horigotatsu* (sunken *kotatsu* table) in a Japanese-style room for a game of mahjong. After a session in the sauna, you can cool off in the cold plunge and relax in the fresh air. We have created a variety of spaces that feel comfortable, whether you are sharing the moment with others or enjoying some time alone.
Rather than being driven by a packed travel itinerary, you can immerse yourself in the rhythm of life in Tateyama, surrounded by people you know and trust. This is the kind of stay that Creek aspires to offer.

■ About “Creek”
“Creek” is a hospitality brand that—much like a stream gently winding its way through towns and nature—connects travel with daily life, offering stays that allow guests to immerse themselves in the local rhythm of a place. Unconstrained by any specific architectural format, the brand curates guest experiences that draw out the unique character of each location and building.
■ Future Outlook
We are currently developing the “ORO hotels” brand, centered around the concept of a “journey of discovery.”
Moving forward, we will continue to develop and operate hotels that integrate thoughtful design with a clear philosophy, all while remaining deeply attuned to the unique characteristics of each local area.
